EXAMINATION COMMITTEE
The Examination Committee is responsible for rigorous testing of veterinarians who have undergone training (Residencies) in Veterinary Clinical Pathology, to ensure that Diplomates of the ECVCP are amongst the best veterinary clinical pathologists in the world. This is a two stage process. Residents can sit the General Clinical Pathology exam (Phase 1) during or after their training. This is a theoretical examination which takes place on line, usually in March. Once their training (Residency) is completed, they then sit examinations in Clinical Biochemistry, Haematology and Cytology to demonstrate both theoretical knowledge and practical diagnostic skills in each discipline. These ‘Phase 2’ exams take place in person in Toulouse over the course of a weekend, usually in late September.
The Examination Committee, along with the Summer School Organization is also responsible for providing a mock exam at the popular biennial Summer School, where Residents can test their progress and familiarise themselves with the exam process.
The Examination Committee is headed up by the Chair [Niki Skeldon], responsible for the academic aspect of the exam, and Exam Officer [Emi Ludemann], responsible for the administrative aspect. They are ably supported by four subcommittees, each consisting of approximately six Diplomates, and each focusing on one section of the Examination.
Please see the Examination section and the Information Brochure for further details regarding eligibility, for application forms, and for dates and other practical information.
